Job Description: As a Floor Covering Installer Helper, you will play a vital role in supporting our skilled trade persons in various labouring activities at construction sites. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the installation of floor
coverings in households and commercial establishments, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Assisting floor covering installers with various tasks such as moving furniture, removing old flooring, and preparing surfaces for installation.
2. Gathering and organizing materials and tools needed for installation.
3. Cutting, measuring, and positioning materials according to specifications.
4. Mixing, pouring and applying adhesives, underlayment, or other materials as directed.
5. Cleaning work areas, tools, and equipment after completion of installation.
6. Providing support in laying carpet, vinyl, tile, or other types of flooring.
7. Operating hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
8. Following safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
9. Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
10. Learning and developing skills related to floor covering installation techniques and practices.
Working conditions and physical capabilities:
• Perform repetitive tasks with meticulous attention to detail and adherence to procedures.
• Work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting objects weighing at least 25.00lbs.
• Navigate confined spaces and dusty environments within the workplace.
Personal suitability:
• Demonstrates reliability and dependability in all aspects of the job
• Exhibit strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Employment Requirements:
⁃ Ability to understand and communicate English.
⁃ Completion of at least secondary school education.
⁃ First Aide knowledge is an asset but not required.
⁃ Previous experience may be preferred, but we offer comprehensive on-the-job training for all candidates.
Compensation and Benefits:
◦ Hourly rate: $23.00
◦ Overtime pay: 1.5 times regular salary after 8 hours/day, 2.0 times after 12 hours/day
◦ Two (2) weeks’ vacation leave per year
◦ Vacation pay: 4% per year
◦ Provincial workplace safety insurance coverage.
