Job description:
51 Wood Ltd., one of the renown cabinet and construction companies in Greater Toronto Area, in collaboration with its affiliates, partners and contractors, provides innovative, environmental, effective and sustainable solutions and supports for commercial buildings and residential homes. Initially established for manufacturing cabinets and wood related structures, over the past decade of development, with the increasing demand for renovation and construction, we have expanded our business to full-service support and completion for the entirety of a project’s life cycle. We have successfully built our presence in the industry along with our affiliates and partners over the wood fabrication and constructability services.
With our expansion of operation, we are looking for carpenter helpers to support our carpenter, tradesmen and onsite construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assigned general carpentry and finishing carpentry duties.
- Assist tradesmen and in the construction of modular buildings and other construction activities.
- Frame in both wood and steel construction under supervision.
- Install windows, doors, roof and fitments as required.
- Move and relocate construction materials to work areas by using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment.
- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at work sites.
- Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities.
- Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites and perform daily clean up of work area.
- Responsible for materials placements, quantity and quality control.
- Ensure task execution in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner.
- Communicate and report to foreman and site supervisor.
Employment Requirements:
- Some knowledge and/or experience of the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Some experience as a basic carpentry or working on construction sites is required.
- Ability to operate all hand and power tools required to perform tasks specific to the carpentry and related construction.
- Familiarity with electrical components and wiring is a plus.
- High school diploma, or equivalent or enrollment in an apprenticeship program will be welcome.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.

Compensation and Benefits:
$26.00 - $32.00 per hour depending on qualification and experience.
Two weeks’ vacation.

Employment Type and Hours:
Full Time, Permanent.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, at least 35 hours/week.
