Cleaning supervisor for a local cleaning services firm
MKS Cleaning Services in Kitchener, Ontario is seeking a cleaning supervisor to supervise and co-ordinate the activities of cleaning workers for our local cleaning services firm.
This position is permanent, full-time, requiring the employee to work 40 hours per week.
Salary is $27.00 per hour. The language of employment is English.
Work location: the business premises of our clients mostly situated in Kitchener area (province of Ontario), as well as the business premises of the employer situated in Kitchener at 236 Beaumont Crescent, Ontario N2A0A8.
Skills required: minimum completion of secondary (high) school or equivalent with a graduation certificate. A cleaning course certificate is nice to have, but it is not mandatory. Higher education is nice to have, but it is also not mandatory.
The candidate must have a minimum of one year experience in a paid or unpaid, part-time or full-time position as a cleaner or a very similar and related occupation, as well as minimal experience as a cleaning supervisor of at least a couple of months and must have a medium grasp of the English language (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
The individual must demonstrate client focus, dependability, flexibility, initiative, judgement and reliability. They must be able to cope with working under pressure in a multitasking environment by being a good team player. Overtime work may be required. They must also be able to work in a physically demanding environment as the position requires a combination of sitting, standing and walking, bending, crouching and kneeling.
The candidate will have to hire and train or arrange for training of cleaning staff, supervise and co-ordinate activities of workers, inspect sites or facilities to ensure established safety and cleanliness standards are met, recommend or arrange for additional maintenance services such as painting, repair work, renovations or replacement of furnishings and equipment, prepare work schedule and co-ordinate activities with those of other departments of the firm’s business clients. They must have some experience supervising a team of at least 3-4 people such as janitors, caretakers and building superintendents, light duty cleaners.
The candidate will also have to assist the supervised cleaners in the performance of their cleaning duties. Namely, they will have to perform certain cleaning duties such as: sweep, mop, wash, wax and polish floors, dust furniture and vacuum carpeting and area rugs, draperies and upholstered furniture, attend to requests for extra supplies, stock linen closets and other supplies' areas, clean, disinfect and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances, clean and disinfect public areas such as washrooms, changing rooms, showers and elevators, pick up debris and empty trash containers, wash windows, walls and ceilings, operate cleaning machines to clean carpets, rugs and upholstered furniture on customers' premises.
