Position Description                                                                                                          

Position: Framer Carpenter

Type of employment: Full-Time

No of positions: 2

Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible

Work Location: Various Locations in Lower Mainland, British Columbia

 

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $30.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and prepare layouts from blueprints and drawings.
  • Calculate the dimensions and materials required for framing to ensure structural integrity.
  • Estimate the quantity of materials needed, such as lumber and steel, and plan framing work, considering the project's scope and timeline.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
  • Build and erect the framework for foundations, floors, walls, roofs, and other structural elements.
  • Fit and install essential structural components like joists, studs, and roof systems.
  • Work collaboratively with other tradespeople, supervising framing tasks and ensuring the team adheres to design specifications.
  • Identify and resolve framing-specific challenges and discrepancies in construction plans.
  • Coordinate with other phases of construction to ensure framing tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Follow building codes and safety regulations when framing and constructing structures.
  • Organize and maintain the construction site, especially the framing area, and maintain framing tools.
  • Inspect and ensure the quality and structural integrity of framing work, adhering to engineering specifications and standards.
  • Evaluate structural damage, particularly to frames, prepare repair estimates, and execute necessary repairs.
  • Supervise and direct other construction workers to ensure that projects are completed successfully.
  • Flexible in taking on additional framing tasks, adapting to changing project requirements.

 

Job Requirements

  • Completion of apprenticeship program in relevant trade or minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and work for extended periods.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, and comfort working at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with team members and customers.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changes on the job site.
  • Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment, including power and hand tools.
  • Ability to perform accurate measurements and calculations for material requirements and dimensions.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety practices and regulations in the construction industry.
