Position Description                                                                                                                                                                        

Position: Drywall Installer

Type of employment: Full-Time

No of positions: 4

Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible

Work Location: Various Locations in Vancouver Island, BC

Salary and Benefits 

Salary: $30.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities 

• Measure cut and fit drywall sheets for installation on walls and ceilings. 
• Position and secure drywall sheets to metal or wooden studs. 
• Coordinate work procedures for drywall installation and removal.
• Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners. 
• Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound. 
• Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in the compound. 
• Smooth out the excess compound and allow the coat to dry. 
• Install suspended metal ceiling grids and place panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
• Prepare surfaces for drywall installation by removing old or damaged materials, ensuring proper insulation, and inspecting for any potential issues.
• Repair and patch existing drywall surfaces, blending new materials with the existing structure to achieve a seamless appearance.
• Follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and hazard-free work environment.
• Work collaboratively with other construction team members to ensure the timely completion of projects.

Job Requirements 

• Completion of secondary school.
• Completion of apprenticeship program or minimum 2 years of work experience.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction/repair of houses and buildings.
• Effective communication skills.
• Capacity to work in various job site conditions and adapt to changes in project requirements or specifications.
