Job Responsibilities
- Understand and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to assess insulation requirements and determine the best type and amount of insulation to use.
- Select the right insulation materials that meet the requirements for energy efficiency, fire resistance, and environmental standards.
- Cut and measure insulating materials using both hand and power tools, ensuring a precise fit for each project.
- Insulate studs and joists, as well as obstructions within the building.
- Apply and secure insulation using various methods such as spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, taping, etc., tailoring the application method to the needs and specifications of each project.
- Customize insulation to fit around obstructions and in between joists and studs, providing complete coverage without gaps.
- Incorporate vapour barriers and fire-retardant materials as needed, in line with safety and regulatory standards.
- Brush waterproofing cement or other materials over insulating materials to enhance durability and resistance to moisture.
- Fabricate and apply removable insulation pads and covers for special applications, providing flexibility and ease of maintenance.
- Whenever necessary, safely remove asbestos, ceramic fibres, mould, or urea formaldehyde insulation materials from buildings.
- Check for weaknesses and damage in existing insulation systems, and repair or replace as necessary.
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all relevant safety and building codes.
- Ensure that customers, and team members understand the project requirements, timelines, and any specific requests from the client.
- Keep accurate records of materials used, time spent, and other relevant project information.
Job Requirements
- Educational Background: Completion of high school is required.
- Apprenticeship or Experience: Completion of 3-4-year apprenticeship program or at least 3 years of work experience.
- Independence: Working independently with limited supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Attitude: Team player with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Precision and Accuracy: Precision and accuracy in measuring, cutting, and installing insulation. Attention to detail.
- Physical Endurance: Physical endurance to stand, bend, and lift heavy insulation materials consistently good hand-eye coordination.
- Communication Skills: Teamwork and customer communication skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Safety Compliance: Understanding and applying safety regulations and building codes.
- Tool Proficiency: Experience in measuring, cutting, and applying insulating materials with both hand and power tools.
- Availability: Flexibility in working hours, including overtime, regardless of weather conditions or worksite.
