Position Description

Position: Painter

Type of employment: Full time; Permanent

No of positions: 2

Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible

Work Location: Various locations in Lower Mainland, Greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley (BC).

Salary: $28.50 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

• Determine the type and quantity of materials and work needed by reading instructions and examining surfaces.
• Prepares paint according to specific colors by selecting premixed paints, or mixing pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances.
• Finish surfaces both inside and outside with paint, wallpaper, and other materials.
• Sets up scaffolding or ladders to perform work above ground level.
• Protect surfaces not being painted with masking tape.
• Provide color schemes and wall covering advice to customers.
• Apply wallpaper and fabrics to walls by measuring, cutting, and sticking them.
• Make sure the surfaces to be painted are clean, sanded, and ready for painting.

Job Requirements

• Completion of high school.
• Completion of 3-4 years of Apprenticeship program or over 3 years of work experience in trade.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
• An understanding of the principles, methods, and techniques of painting.
• Knowledge of preparation techniques and painting materials and tools.
• Understanding of drawings, plans, and following written and verbal instructions.
