About Us
Established in 2017, Gear English is a language center focused on student success for English examination and ESL general training courses, specializing in IELTS examination preparation. We empower our students to communicate confidently verbally and in writing with English for success in their academic or career pursuits.
Our language center is currently seeking experienced and talented IELTS instructors to prepare our students in attainting their target score goals.
Responsibilities
-Conduct placement test to determine learner level and needs
-plan and deliver IELTS tutorials focusing on the 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing
-1 v 1 tutorial lesson teaching and small group (up to 5) teaching
-conduct and grade IELTS practice test and provide feedback to learners for improvement
-document student progress and conduct individual reviews
-self update on latest exam trends and topics
Qualifications and Experience
-Have 2+ years’ experience teaching English as second language to adults or post-secondary students
-Have Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, TESOL or English Literature
-Have taken the IELTS examination within the last 5 years with at least 1 aspect over 8 (overall 8+ preferred)
-Be computer literate with ability to use various programs (Microsoft Office, Google Classroom, ZOOM, VOOV)
-Have availability for weekends and weekday shifts
-Previous Experience teaching IELTS classes preferred
-Previous Experience teaching Chinese students preferred
-Ability to teach in Mandarin and/or Cantonese in addition to English preferred
-Previous Experience teaching in hybrid mode preferred
