Position Description 

Position: Cabinetmaker

Type of employment: Full-Time; Permanent

No of positions: 4

Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible.

Work Location: Unit 6 - 13140 88 Avenue Surrey BC V3W 3K3 and Various Locations in Lower Mainland, Greater Vancouver, Fraser Valley (BC)

 

Salary and Benefits 

Salary: $29.00 per hour

Overtime and Vacation Pay

Job Responsibilities 

  • Study blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired and plan a sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed.
  • Mark the outline or dimensions of wood parts according to blueprint or drawing specifications.
  • Operate a variety of woodworking machines and use hand tools to cut, shape and form parts and components.
  • Trim joints and fit parts/subassemblies together to make a complete unit using glue/clamps and reinforce joints using nails, screws, or other fasteners.
  • Sands surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products.
  • Repair furniture, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Install cabinets and custom woodworking on job sites.
  • Assist with material estimation and supply evaluation.
  • Quality control by inspecting materials and finished products for defects.
  • Follow safety protocols when operating machinery and handling materials.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and clients to meet project specifications.
  • Customize designs to accommodate client preferences and space constraints.
  • Develop prototypes or samples to demonstrate design concepts.
  • Manage an inventory of materials and supplies to prevent production delays.
  • Document project details, including materials used and time spent.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by understanding client needs and offering guidance. Perform other job duties as required. `

 

Job Requirements 

  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Completion of 3-4-year apprenticeship program or 2-3 years of work experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Trade certification would be an asset but not mandatory.
  • Detail-oriented and with a good work ethic.
  • Physical strength and good health, able to lift and carry heavy items or stand for extended periods.
