Job Type
- Full-time, Permanent (32-36 hours per week)
Salary
- $19.50/hr., paid bi-weekly.
Duties and responsibilities
- Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided.
- Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
- Multitasking and prioritizing tasks and ensuring that food items are prepared and delivered within a reasonable timeframe.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and freshness of all ingredients used in food preparation to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Utilize cooking techniques and methods to prepare dishes such as frying, grilling, roasting, and simmering.
- Communicating and collaborate with other kitchen staff, such as the prep cooks, servers, and dishwashers, to ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintaining consistent quality in the food and beverages and inspecting kitchens and food service areas
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment of the kitchen
- Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education
- Secondary School (Education in relevant trade is an asset)
Job Requirements
- Experience of 6 months to 1 year in same field is required
- Must work mixed shifts depending upon the schedule
- A friendly, enthusiastic attitude
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Physical requirements
- Standing for long periods of time
- Working in a hot kitchen environment
