Job Title:  General Manager

NOC Group: Senior Managers - other business services (NOC: 00012)

Job Type: Full-time/permanent

Rate of pay: $90.85 per hour
Overtime: 1.5 times the normal rate as per provincial regulations.
Benefits Package: 4% vacation pay will be paid each payday on a bi-weekly basis
Hours: 40 hrs. per week

Start Date of Employment (Approx.): As soon as possible
Language: English
Minimum Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years

Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar position.

Job Summary:

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the retail furniture store, ensuring profitability, high customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and team performance. This leadership role involves strategic planning, staff supervision, inventory control and the implementation of effective sales and marketing strategies to drive business growth.

 

Job Duties:

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to meet company goals and increase market share.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Oversee daily store operations including sales, merchandising, warehousing, and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and provincial/federal laws.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-control measures.
  • Analyze sales reports and financial statements to assess business performance.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff to maintain a productive and motivated workforce.
  • Establish performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining quality standards and resolving customer issues promptly.
  • Oversee after-sales service and warranty claims.
  • Manage procurement of furniture and accessories, maintain optimal inventory levels, and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Monitor inventory turnover and reduce shrinkage.
  • Coordinate promotional campaigns, seasonal sales and online/offline marketing strategies.
  • Enhance the store’s brand presence through community involvement and customer engagement.
