On the road: Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.
Responsibilities: Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions; Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy; Load and unload goods; Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes; Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials; Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment; Perform brake adjustments; Perform emergency roadside repairs; Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle; Receive and relay information to central dispatch; Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption; Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo.
Credentials: Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
Experience and specialization: Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading; Driver logbook; Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip); Trans-border documentation; Trip reports.
Type of trucking and equipment: Dry bulk; Refrigerated
Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
