Baker, specialty foods - Burek Maker /Balkan/Mediterranean
Working conditions: Salary $36.00 per hour with 40 hours per week, full time, permanent, regular employment
Requirements: 3-5 years of experience, ability, knowledge and skills in baking traditional Mediterranean (Balkan) burek and pita made by hand from scratch (savory pastry, popular in the Balkans, Middle East, and Turkey, made with thin, flaky dough (like phyllo) stretched very thin by hand, shaped into round shape, rolled and layered to form pies , placed on trays for baking or freezing and baked with various fillings, including meat, cheese, spinach, potatoes or fruits like apple or cherry. Work must be completed at the bake shop. There is no option to work remotely. Able to work fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, show attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, manual dexterity, performing repetitive tasks and standing for extended periods. Personal suitability: accurate, dependability, reliability, team player.
Tasks: Prepare dough for burek and pita according to recipes or special customer orders, bake mixed dough, prepare special orders, draw up production schedules, ensure that the quality of products meets established standards in ethnic Balkan baking , inspect kitchen and food service areas, operate machinery, organize and maintain inventory maintain adequate supply of all prepared products on hand and ensures the proper storage and refrigeration, keeps spoilage/waste to a minimum by ordering and utilizing proper quantities and rotating products, follow up hygiene and safety procedures.
