Salary: $34.50-37.00 CAD per hour
Hours: 30-40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break, half-hour paid)

About Us
Peregrine House School is a licensed full-day childcare center dedicated to the growth and development of children aged 1 to 6 years. We provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can explore, learn, and thrive.
Job Responsibilities
Observe and assess each child’s development to design personalized learning plans that support their individual growth.
Plan and lead engaging programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Support children in developing positive self-care habits such as eating independently, dressing, and toilet training.
Facilitate creative and educational activities including storytelling, music, arts and crafts, and local excursions.
Encourage self-expression through dramatic play, movement, and hands-on learning experiences.
Provide guidance and support to assistants, trainees, and volunteers to maintain a positive and collaborative environment.
Maintain open and consistent communication with families about children’s progress, strengths, and areas of concern.
Observe and report any signs of developmental or behavioral issues to supervisors and collaborate on next steps.
Create and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment that prioritizes the health and well-being of all children.
Assist with daily routines such as feeding, diapering, bathing, and preparing snacks.
Contribute to light housekeeping and meal preparation duties as part of the team.
Manage classroom materials, order necessary supplies, and ensure resources are well-maintained.
Keep accurate records and documentation related to child development, behavior, and learning activities.
Participate in staff meetings to discuss child progress, share insights, and support team goals.
Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and center policies at all times.
Build and maintain respectful and collaborative relationships with colleagues, families, and community partners.
Wear the Peregrine House School uniform daily, including both indoor and outdoor attire provided by the school.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: A bachelor’s degree or college diploma is required.
Certification:
Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) license.
Valid First Aid Certificate.
Experience: Experience an asset.
Other Requirements:
Satisfactory criminal record check.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Early Childhood Educator Skills
Assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to his needs; Assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties; Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers; Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Maintain daycare equipment; Storytelling; Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers; Synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents; Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest; Order supplies and equipment; Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records; Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
Additional Skills
Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts; Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor; Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors; Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings; Knowledge of licensing regulations; Establish guidelines for behaviour; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children; Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children; Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
