Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate should have a passion for Chinese cuisine and be able to thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparing and cooking a wide variety of traditional Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, fried rice, noodle soups, dumplings, seafood, and wok-based meals according to standardized recipes and customer preferences.
2. Determining food portion sizes, preparation timelines, and cost controls to ensure consistent quality and minimize waste.
3. Planning menus and estimating food requirements for daily service and special events, ensuring appropriate supply levels are maintained.
4. Requisitioning food and kitchen supplies based on inventory levels and menu needs.
5. Inspecting kitchens and food service areas to ensure compliance with sanitation and food safety standards.
6. Maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, and advising management when stock needs to be replenished.
7. Ordering kitchen supplies and equipment as authorized by management.
8. Cleaning and sanitizing all work areas, equipment, and utensils to maintain a hygienic and organized kitchen environment.
9. Training junior kitchen staff and helpers on proper food handling, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety procedures.
10. Supervising and delegating tasks to kitchen staff, ensuring efficient food preparation and timely service.
11. Organizing buffets and banquets, including food preparation, setup, and service coordination.
12. Managing day-to-day kitchen operations, including opening and closing procedures, workflow organization, and maintaining high productivity during busy periods.
Job Requirements:
1. Completion of secondary school is preferred or equivalent experience
2. Minimum 7 months to 1 year of experience as a cook in a restaurant setting
3. Experience with Chinese cuisine is strongly preferred
4. Strong client focus and commitment to food quality and customer satisfaction
5. Flexible and willing to adjust to changing priorities
6. Works well as part of a team and contributes to a supportive workplace
7. Excellent time management skills to coordinate multiple orders simultaneously
