Home Care Worker — Private Household (JIANG)

Location: Richmond Hill, ON L4B 4B5 — on-site only (no remote)

Schedule & Pay

•             Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week)

•             Days, evenings, nights, flexible hours, weekends as needed

•             $21/hour

•             Start date: As soon as possible

About the Role

We are hiring a compassionate, reliable caregiver to support an elderly female family member with medical needs in our non-smoking home. The role focuses on personal care, mobility support, meal preparation, medication assistance, companionship, and keeping the living area clean and safe.

Key Responsibilities

•             Provide full personal care, including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and toileting; assist with adult diaper changes and maintain skin integrity through proper hygiene and care.

•             Assist with all mobility needs — support safe transfers between bed, wheelchair, and walker, and provide verbal guidance, encouragement, and reassurance during assisted walking or exercises.

•             Monitor and report any changes in the senior’s physical condition, mood, or behavior to family members or healthcare professionals promptly and accurately.

•             Prepare and serve nutritious meals according to dietary needs (Chinese cuisine preferred) and assist with feeding when necessary, ensuring the senior understands and feels comfortable during meals.

•             Administer or assist with prescribed medications as directed by family or healthcare providers, confirming understanding to prevent any miscommunication or errors.

•             Offer ongoing companionship and conversation to reduce anxiety and confusion caused by neurological symptoms, providing emotional comfort and stability.

•             Accompany the senior to medical appointments and outings; assist in communication with healthcare staff and ensure instructions are clearly understood and followed.

•             Perform light housekeeping related to personal care — including laundry, tidying, sanitizing equipment, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.

•             Follow daily routines and individualized care plans; maintain continuous, clear communication with the senior and family to ensure consistent and high-quality care.

Qualifications

•             Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program or related training with a hands-on placement, and/or

•             Minimum 1 year of relevant caregiving experience.

•             Current First Aid certification.

•             Language: English, and ability to communicate effectively with the care recipient who speaks Mandarin only is required. Applicants who do not speak Mandarin must demonstrate a practical and reliable method to ensure clear and efficient daily communication with the elderly client.

Security, Health & Safety

•             Clear criminal record check.

•             Medical exam; routine vaccinations required (including COVID-19 and seasonal flu).

•             Driver’s licence validity check may be requested.
