Job Description:
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the work of other plasterers and drywall installers
- Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces
- Cure freshly plastered surfaces to ensure proper setting
- Cut and install metal corner beads to reinforce and protect exterior corners
- Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
- Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
- Finish corners and angles and apply decorative designs in the finish coat, if required
- Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
- Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
- Position and secure drywall sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
- Smooth out excess compound and allow it to dry properly
- Apply coats of stucco to exterior building surfaces using a trowel or spray equipment to create weatherproof finishes
- Cut openings in lath for ventilation, piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
- Install metal stud framing and furring for drywall or plaster walls and ceilings using hand and power tools
- Prepare wall and ceiling layouts according to blueprints and specifications
- Estimate material quantities and project costs for assignments
