Job description:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for the restaurant and catering of  You'r Next Inc (Aunty's Kitchen).

 The Operations Manager also supports the restaurant's senior leadership in upholding all brand standards and core values, while meeting or exceeding Aunty's Kitchen growing catering business objectives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate financial comprehension of the restaurant's budget and P&L.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to develop hourly staff members into Auty's Kitchen
  • Recruit, interview, train and motivate staff
  • Monitor all kitchen operations including food safety, food handling and food storage
  • Prepare and implement operating procedures
  • Ensure restaurant cleanliness and safety for guest and staff
  • Timely execution of corporate & local marketing programs
  • Manage labour schedules in line with the Restaurant's budget and forecast models.
  • Foster an environment of customer service in which all team members put the guest first in every situation.
  • Support senior management in attracting and retaining the most exceptionally talented people available in the market and place them in positions that leverage their skills and expertise for maximum impact.
  • Adhere to Aunty's Kitchen standards and service standards to increase sales and minimize costs (i.e. food, beverage, supply, and labour)
  • Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues, as well as developing employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and conducting performance reviews
  • This position will require the individual to have a flexible work schedule.

  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management and/or equivalent an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years experience within the hospitality industry with a minimum of 2 years experience in a management position
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to conduct written and verbal performance reviews
  • Self-starter, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task, and change priorities constantly as needed in a fast paced environment
  • Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant and make final decisions on matters of importance to guest service

What will you be doing on a daily basis?

  • Collecting/recording/processing daily cash outs and tips
  • Preparing invoices/payments for multiple vendors
  • Maintaining compliance with local food authority and City of Kitchener Waterloo by-laws and requirements
  • Living our core values along with leading others to do so while collaborating with the management team to achieve high-quality and timely results
  • Answering all emails/inquiries
  • Coordinating catering, private bookings, and any off-site events
  • Work in conjunction with our accountant and business owners
