Salary:                                                  $23.50/hr ($48,880 annually)
Hours:                                                   40/wk

Overtime:                                            $35.25 (As per provincial standards – for over 8 hrs/day; 40 hrs/wk)

Observed Holidays:                         As outlined on labour.gov.bc.ca – 10 holidays/yr 

Education:                                           Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

 

Experience:                                        1 year to less than 2 years

 

Ability to Supervise:                        3-4 people

 

Description:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of our restaurant – including the selection, development, performance monitoring, and overall management of our employees. In addition, they oversee the inventory and ordering of food products and supplies on a “just-in-time” basis; effort to optimize profits by reducing waste, overhead, and controlling inventory timing; and basically, ensure adherence to laid down standards and client satisfaction. The Assistant Manager reports to the Manager and the Franchise President.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, plan, control and organize the overall operation of the store
  • Adhere to, and ensure employee adherence to company standards and service levels in order to increase sales and minimize costs
  • Recruit new staff, as well as train and develop existing staff
  • Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues and help them to develop into proficient workers by providing them with ongoing feedback
  • Coordinate staff scheduling and motivate/encourage staff to achieve targets
  • Ensure that recipes/product directions for preparing, seasoning and cooking are followed
  • Practice inventory control standards and inspects equipment and storage facilities to ensure that equipment is in proper working order
  • Organize stock and equipment, order supplies and oversee building maintenance, cleanliness and security
  • Ensure safety and health compliance that is in alignment with operational standards, company policies, federal/provincial/local laws and ordinances
  • Plan and work to budgets, maximize profits and achieve sales targets set by head office
  • Review expenditure requests against the budget and approve/deny accordingly
  • Perform conflict resolution actions as appropriate to the given issue (staff or customer)
  • Implement branded promotional campaigns from head office, including the handling of point-of-sale promotional materials
  • Establish relationships with the local community and undertake activities that comply with the company's social responsibility mandates
  • Keep the Manager and Franchise President up-to-date and fully informed of any and all issues and take prompt corrective actions where necessary and/or if the situation permits, offer alternative suggestions as to the appropriate course of action
  • Prepare reports and other performance analysis documentation
  • Assist manager in, and perform, administrative duties to ensure that all financials are completed accurately and on time
