Michael St. Clair Fine Cleaners is a local dry cleaning and laundry establishment specializing in a variety of services including alterations, wedding gown cleaning, hospitality linen among others. With over 50 years of experience in the industry, we take pride in providing quality service to our customers at our multiple store locations in the Greater Vancouver Area.  We are currently looking for a Dry Cleaning Service Assistant Manager to join our team.

Job Title: Dry Cleaning Service Assistant Manager

Job Description and Duties:

• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the operations of dry cleaning services
• Ensure prompt and timely service of pickup and delivery
• Plan budgets, approve and control expenditures
• Record and monitor laundry operation costs
• Upkeep the laundry equipment and maintain inventory
• Resolve problems that may arise like customer complaints, urgent work load or
shortage of products for the multiple store locations in the Greater Vancouver area
• Establish policies and procedures for safe working environment and manage health and safety issues
• Handle emergency situations
• Oversee cleaning of specialty and difficult items
• Monitor quality and production levels, control of chemical use
• Supervise, hire and train staff in job duties, schedule and manage the shift systems
• Prepare and submit progress reports and other reports to the Manager
• Other related duties as may be requested by the management


Personal Qualities and Skills:

• Good communication skills in English
• To be well organized and able to make decisions
• The ability to plan things and carry them through
• Customer service skills and leadership skills
• Good knowledge of cleaning and laundering processes
• To use cleaning chemicals and solvents correctly and safely
• Knowledge of handling different types of textiles and fabrics
• Numerical skills to cope with accounts, book-keeping and budgeting
• A good level of fitness


The work environment can get hot, humid and sometimes noisy.

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Long Term


Hours of work: 40 hours per week


Wages: $23.00 per hour

Overtime:
• One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations
• Should be flexible to work on shifts from 7.30 AM to 3.30 PM or 12.30 PM to 8.30 PM and also may have to work overtime on weekdays or weekends depending upon the work load, if required

• WorkSafeBC insurance covered by employer
• 4% vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis

Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is required
• Some prior managerial experience in dry cleaning and laundry services industry is usually required


Anticipated Start Date of Employment:
• As soon as possible
