Home Support Worker (NOC: 4412)
Wage: $20.00/Hr for 30hrs/week
Anticipated Start Date: ASAP
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Job summary
Karamjit Brar is looking for a home support worker who is responsible for providing living assistance and companionship to sick and elderly people who cannot look after themselves on their own. Care is provided within the client’s residence, in which the home support worker may also reside.
Responsibilities
- Provide care and companionship for individual and family member during periods of incapacitation
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals and special diets and feed or assist in feeding client
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment following standard procedures
- May perform routine health related duties such as assisting in the administration of medications
- Administer bedside and personal care to clients such as bathing, personal hygiene, dressing and undressing
- Answer to the registered nurse or doctor in charge of the client’s care team
- Able to coordinate transportation to doctor appointments
- Must create a daily routine based on client’s special needs
- May perform routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes and making beds
Requirements
- Language: English, Punjabi is a requirement
- Education: Some secondary school education is required
- Experience: Proven experience as a home support worker
- Training: Completion of a training program in care of the elderly, care of persons with disabilities or in a related field will be considered an asset
Skills:
- Have general knowledge of the health conditions
- Build rapport and trust with clients through use of interpersonal communication skills
- Coordinate appointments and related transportation using organizational skills
- Prepare meals and doing grocery shopping using basic nutrition and culinary skills
