Carpenter

Hours: 30 to 40 per week

Duties:
- Construct, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures within sawmill and planer mill facilities supporting log breakdown and finished lumber production.
- Build and maintain wooden platforms, catwalks, stairs, handrails, walkways, and safety barriers to ensure safe access throughout production and storage areas.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble Western Red Cedar and Hem-Fir lumber using hand tools and power tools according to drawings and mill specifications.
- Perform structural carpentry repairs on mill buildings, including walls, floors, doors, frames, and roof components.
- Fabricate and repair wooden bins, racks, cradles, dividers, and storage structures used for lumber handling and finished product storage.
- Construct and maintain wooden forms, jigs, braces, and non-mechanical fixtures used to support production processes.
- Inspect existing wooden structures for damage, wear, or safety hazards and complete corrective repairs as required.
- Select appropriate lumber grades and estimate material requirements for carpentry projects.
- Coordinate carpentry work with supervisors and maintenance teams to minimize production disruption.
- Comply with occupational health and safety regulations, including mill safety procedures and fall-protection requirements.
- Maintain carpentry tools and equipment and keep work areas clean and organized.
