POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Contractor, Painting to supervise and coordinate painting operations and other construction trade activities across our residential and commercial job sites in Vernon, BC and surrounding areas. This is a permanent full-time supervisory role responsible for managing projects, directing painters, decorators and other trade workers, and ensuring all work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standard.
MAIN DUTIES
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of painters, decorators, and other construction trade workers including roofers, concrete finishers, and building maintenance workers on residential and commercial job sites
- Plan and organize project activities including scheduling work across multiple trades, allocating labour, and determining material and equipment requirements
- Inspect job sites regularly to ensure work performed by all trades meets company and client quality standards
- Coordinate and communicate with other trade contractors and subcontractors to ensure project activities are properly sequenced and scheduled
- Enforce WorkSafeBC safety requirements and ensure all workers and subcontractors comply with applicable health and safety regulations
- Communicate with clients, property owners, suppliers and other trades to coordinate project timelines and resolve issues
- Prepare production reports and maintain records of project activities, trade coordination and material usage
- Requisition and order paint, coatings, and related materials and supplies required by the company and associated trades
- Recruit, hire and orient new workers and carry out related staffing actions across the business
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the painting contracting business including oversight of associated trade activities
- Ensure all projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required standard of quality across all trades involved
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to supervise and coordinate the work of painters, decorators and other construction tradespeople
- Experience planning and scheduling construction projects across multiple trades
- Ability to manage materials, supplies and project budgets
- Strong client communication and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC safety standards and construction site safety requirements
- Experience operating or managing a painting or construction contracting business is an asset
- Ability to prepare production reports and maintain accurate project records
Language: English — verbal and written communication required
Work Conditions:
- On-site work at various locations in Vernon, BC and surrounding area
- Must be available for full-time on-site attendance throughout project duration
- Schedule may include early mornings, evenings or weekends based on project requirements
- Must be able to commit to project-based mobility across multiple work locations
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Regular wage: $37.00 per hour
- Overtime rate: $55.50 per hour (after 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week)
- Paid vacation: 10 days
- Vacation pay: 4% of gross salary
