Position: Intermediate Land Survey Technician
Employment type: full-time, 40 hrs/week

Education: Completion of minimum one-to-two year college program in geomatics or land survey technology is usually required.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of related surveying experience is required.
- Experience with piling scopes of work, legal or municipal surveying, and utility locating is considered an asset.
- Experience with Trimble GPS and Total Station equipment is considered an asset.
- Preference may be given to candidates with more extensive related surveying experience.
Onsite work: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Work Setting: Rural Area, Remote Location
Duties:
- Operate survey instruments and devices
- Participate in field surveys
- Keep survey information in systematic order
- Assist in the calculation, analysis and computation of measurements obtained during field surveys
- Assist in the preparation of detailed drawings, charts and plans
- Keep records, measurements and other survey information in systematic order
- Analyze latitude, longitude and angles and compute trigonometric and other calculations top lot features, contours and areas to a specific scale
- Assist survey engineers or professional surveyors to develop methods and procedures for conducting field surveys
- Conduct field surveys and operate survey instruments and computer equipment to measure distance, angles, elevations and contours
- Determine precise geographic locations using global positioning systems (GPS) equipment
- Prepare detailed drawings, charts and plans and survey notes and reports
- Record measurements and other information obtained during field survey activities
- Supervise and co-ordinate field survey activities
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:
- Alberta Society of Surveying and Mapping Technologies (ASSMT) preferred
- CSTS 2020 and WHMIS required, or willingness to obtain prior to commencing field/site work
- Valid First Aid certification required, or willingness to obtain prior to commencing field/site work
- CSO required where necessary for site access
- H2S Alive required where assigned to oil and gas/sour gas worksites
- Ground Disturbance Training is considered an asset
- UAV/Drone Pilot Certification is considered an asset
Additional information:
- Driver’s abstract may be required where available
- Valid driver’s licence preferred
- Vehicle will be supplied by employer
