Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment while meeting tight deadlines.
- Capable of standing for extended periods, with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Client-focused with excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Reliable, flexible, hardworking, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Job Duties
- Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine welding requirements.
- Operate manual, semi-automatic, and automated welding equipment to fabricate and repair metal structures and components.
- Set up, adjust, and maintain welding machines, tools, and related equipment before commencing work.
- Determine the weldability of materials and select appropriate welding methods, electrodes, and filler materials.
- Fit, align, braze, and torch-straighten metal parts using appropriate fabrication techniques.
- Operate flame-cutting and metal-finishing equipment to cut, shape, and prepare materials for welding.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install metal staircases, handrails, guardrails, balcony railings, fences, gates, wheelchair access ramps, safety barriers, and other custom steel structures for residential and commercial construction projects.
- Examine completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards, engineering specifications, and safety requirements.
- Repair worn or damaged metal components by welding, brazing, or other approved fabrication methods.
- Repair, reinforce, and modify structural steel components, including support beams, steel lintels, fire escapes, loading dock structures, equipment platforms, machine guards, carport frames, porch supports, and warehouse shelving systems to meet engineering specifications and applicable building codes.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting of welding equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Follow workplace health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and equipment inspections.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards while collaborating effectively with supervisors and team members.
Location: 2000 Argentia Road, Suite 400, Plaza 3, Mississauga, ON L5N 1V9 (Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.)
Salary: $36.20 per hour / 30 hours per week
Overtime: 1.5 times the regular hourly wage after 44 hours per week
Vacation Pay: 4% of gross wages, paid on each pay period
