Metro Doors & Woodworking is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario.

Position: Carpenter
Location: 5220 General Road, Mississauga, ON L4W 1G8
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: $37.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: 30–40 hours per week
Work Location: On-site
Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Duties

  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using a ruler, pencil, chalk and marking gauge.
  • Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and materials according to measurements.
  • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors and mouldings.
  • Build frameworks, including partitions, joints, studding, and rafters.
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
  • Lay out flooring, roofing, and drywall ensuring a level surface.
  • Use hand tools and power tools and shape, cut and install building materials.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to full grasp requirements.
  • Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks and props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
  • Supervise other workers and guide them according to the work requirement.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation certificate.

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant carpentry experience.

  • Strong knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and construction methods.

  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and sketches.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Reliable, accurate, and safety-conscious.

  • Ability to handle heavy loads and perform physically demanding work.

  • Criminal record check may be required.

Working Conditions

The position involves a physically demanding workload, handling heavy materials, working under tight deadlines, and flexibility to work mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts as required.
