Who we are

The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (BCACCS) is a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous early learning and

child care (IELCC). BCACCS undertakes research, develops training, and resources, and provides services

and leadership to support Indigenous communities throughout BC to create high quality, culturally

respectful, spiritually enriching community child care services that are based in the child’s culture,

language, and history.

 

The work this role carries

BCACCS is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of IELCC Facilitator Coordinator. Reporting to

the IELCC Program Steward, this role provides leadership, guidance, mentorship and practice support to

the Regional Community Facilitator team, supporting consistent, high-quality engagement with First

Nations communities and the successful delivery of Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care (IELCC)

initiatives across British Columbia.

 

Working closely with the IELCC Program Manager, the Facilitator Coordinator serves as the primary

practice lead for the engagement team by providing coaching, technical guidance, and support to

Facilitators. While providing day-to-day functional supervision, all formal human resources

responsibilities remain with the Program Steward.

 

Key Contribution

 Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture and perform related duties as assigned.

 Collaborate with the Administrative Coordinator, Community Funding Project Manager, and

BCACCS staff.

 Prepare briefing notes, reports, presentations, and planning materials.

 Provide constructive feedback and escalate formal performance concerns to the Program

Steward.

 Coordinate onboarding, orientation, mentoring, and ongoing learning opportunities.

 Identify emerging practice issues and recommend improvements to the IELCC Program Steward.

 Support culturally respectful and community-centred engagement with First Nations

communities.

 Coach staff through challenging, emotionally sensitive, or conflict-related situations.

 Support Facilitators with funding inquiries, applications, reporting requirements, and project

implementation.

 Promote consistent application of IELCC policies, funding guidelines, engagement practices, and

service standards.

 Provide leadership, mentorship, coaching, and practice support to the Regional Community

Facilitator team.

 

What you bring: Experience, Knowledge, and Ways of Being

 Proficiency with Microsoft Office; grant management systems are an asset.

 Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

 Knowledge of Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care and First Nations communities is an asset.

 Commitment to continuous learning and knowledge of IELCC programs.

 Excellent written communication including reports and briefing notes.

 Strong organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

 Ability to interpret policies and apply sound judgment.

 Experience with funding programs, applications, agreements, and reporting.

 Strong interpersonal, coaching, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

 Experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 Ability to build respectful relationships with First Nations communities and partners.

 Experience providing leadership, mentorship, coaching, or functional supervision.

Additional gifts and strengths you may bring

 Experience working within not-for-profit, community-based, or values-driven organizations.

How the role is practiced day-to-day

 Primarily remote (from a secure and private home office in BC) and travel-based, with the ability

to attend occasional meetings or gatherings at the West Vancouver office as needed.

 Follows standard working hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional

extended hours.

 Holds a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, with the ability to travel as needed.

 Carries out the role in alignment with BCACCS’ Code of Conduct, and is willing to complete a

criminal record check to support a safe and trusted workplace.
