In July 2018, we registered the trade name “Canada Nautical” and started supplying marine charts, publications, digital equipment and safety equipment to our local shipping community. We have been accredited by UKHO, Canadian Hydrographic, International Maritime Organization, NOAA and other various publishers around the world.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our dynamic team at Canada Nautical. As a Graphic Designer, you will play a pivotal role in creating visually compelling and engaging designs for various marketing materials, product packaging, digital assets, and brand collateral. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative individual with a passion for design and a keen interest in the nautical industry to make a significant impact within a growing organization.

Responsibilities:
1. Create realistic or representational sketches and final illustrations based on client requirements, incorporating feedback and revisions as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
2. Utilize both 2-D and 3-D animation techniques to develop engaging animated drawings or computer illustrations, adding depth and dynamism to visual content.
3. Coordinate all aspects of production for various mediums, including print, audio-visual, or electronic materials, ensuring seamless execution and timely delivery of projects.
4. Collaborate closely with clients throughout the design process, consulting on the overall look, graphic elements, and content of communications materials to meet their objectives effectively; Engage in detailed consultations with clients to understand their specific needs and objectives for illustrations, ensuring alignment with their communication goals.
5. Assess and estimate the costs of materials and time required to complete graphic designs and illustrations, ensuring accurate budgeting for each project.
6. Develop graphic elements that align with the client's branding guidelines and communication objectives, maintaining consistency and relevance across all designs; Prioritize client satisfaction by delivering high-quality design solutions that exceed expectations, fostering long-term relationships and loyalty with clients.
7. Prepare preliminary sketches, layouts, and graphic elements, utilizing creative techniques and software tools to visualize design concepts and compositions.
8. Perform various administrative functions related to design projects, including maintaining project documentation, tracking timelines, and communicating project updates to relevant stakeholders.
9. Conduct thorough quality checks on all design deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client specifications and industry standards.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in graphic design and illustration, actively seeking opportunities for skill development and innovation.


Qualifications:
1. College/CEGEP or equivalent, preferred in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
2. Proven 1-2 year's experience as a Graphic Designer, preferably in a retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods environment.
3. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools.
4. Solid knowledge of print production processes and prepress requirements.
5. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
6. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to articulate design concepts and receive constructive feedback.
