Position Overview

We are currently seeking a driven and customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to join our team at our Kelowna location. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, has a passion for exceptional service, and enjoys leading a team toward operational excellence. As the Assistant Store Manager, you will take an active role in site level leadership and overall management of daily operations. You will be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring positive customer experience, maintaining the store presentation and inventory, and contributing to sales and profitability goals. This position requires strong leadership, sound decision-making, and a hands-on approach to ensure the success of both the team and the store.

Wage: $35.00 per hour.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the assigned location, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels, coordinate vendor deliveries, and maintain accurate stock records.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and customer-ready store environment at all times.
  • Assign duties to team members, create shift schedules, and provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Foster an inclusive and respectful work culture that encourages teamwork and accountability.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and solution-focused manner.
  • Support execution of in-store promotions, merchandising plans, and pricing strategies to drive sales and improve customer experience.
  • Analyze sales trends and assist in meeting revenue targets through effective team leadership and promotional efforts.
  • Manage cash handling procedures, including reconciliations, deposits, and compliance with financial controls.
  • Track and approve operational expenses, assist with budgeting, and ensure cost-effective site management.
  • Act as the site lead in the absence of the Site Manager, taking full responsibility for store operations.
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of merchandise.
  • Prepare and maintain operational reports, shift summaries, and other documentation as required.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work culture where all team members feel respected and supported.
  • Perform other key responsibilities as assigned to support overall business operations.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required; post-secondary education in business, retail management, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory or assistant management role, preferably in a retail, fuel, or convenience store setting.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills with the ability to motivate and guide staff toward achieving performance goals.
  • Proven ability to foster an inclusive and respectful work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and hands on approach to operations.
  • Must be flexible and available to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by store operations.
