Position Title: Baker

Number of Vacancies: 1 Position

Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time employment (minimum 30 hours per week)

Language of Work: English

Location of Work of Baker: 492 Rochester Street, Ottawa, Ontario at Farinella’s warehouse facility for dough, bread, and gelato production

Compensation package:

  • Hourly Wage: $18 per hour
  • Employee discounts on food and gelato

Job Duties:

  • Prepare and bake breads, rolls, muffins, pies, pastries, cookies, cakes, and other baked goods according to recipes or special customer orders.
  • Mix and knead dough and batters for baking products.
  • Frost and decorate cakes and other pastries.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of baked goods meet Farinella’s standards.
  • Schedule and oversee production to ensure timely output.
  • Purchase and manage baking supplies and inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bakery and production equipment.
  • Train and supervise baking assistants and kitchen staff when required.
  • Collaborate with the gelato and pizza teams to support cross-product innovation and efficiency in production.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial or artisanal baking experience
  • Experience with Italian baking (e.g., panettone, cannoli) is an asset
  • Attention to detail and creativity in product presentation.
  • Strong time management and teamwork skills.
