Assistant Controller

ROLE SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for assisting the Controller with the management of overall financial operations of Naturally Pacific Resort Ltd.
The Assistant Controller will aid in directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, preparing financial statements and supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls. Responsibilities will include coding transactions, reconciling sub-ledgers and accounts, providing ad-hoc reporting, analyzing financial reports, and completing month-end reporting and related transactions.
Compensation: $77,625.00 annually
Term of Position: Permanent 40 hours per week

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Maintenance of books of account including, but not limited to coding and creating journal entries.
• Prepare and review required monthly/quarterly reporting, and act as liaison with other departments/companies.
• Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets and assist with preparation for any audits or independent reviews.
• Complete monthly reconciliation for all accounts (including bank and brokerage accounts).
• Assist in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for complex financial and accounting issues.
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts on the organizations.
• Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities.
• Responds to internal and external information requests, maintains good employee relations, and solves problems.
• Stays current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends.
• Other duties as required.
• Maintain complete sets of books and keep accurate financial records of accounts.
• Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
• Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements
• Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required or professional account designation (CPA)
• 5+ years of experience in financial management.
• General understanding of computerized accounting systems. (prior knowledge of Yardi considered an asset)
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines.

• Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
