On behalf of our client, Liftow Limited, we are recruiting for a Controller, located in Mississauga, Ontario. Liftow Limited is the largest Toyota Forklift Dealer in North America. They provide their clients with the most exceptional material handling equipment, products, training, and customer service in the industry. They are committed to assisting customers in finding the safest, most productive, and cost-efficient solution for their material handling needs.

 

Reporting to the Vice President, the Controller will be responsible for managing all financial activities, including financial management, internal controls, reporting, audits, and financial systems. This financial role will appeal to a confident professional with excellent interpersonal and communications skills and enjoys being hands on and driving results.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the financial department and all accounting operational functions
  • Manages the consolidated financial operations of all related companies
  • Provides leadership and guidance to four managers overseeing approximately 20 staff in all areas related to finance and accounting
  • Develops and implements operational plans for the accounting and finance function including defined objectives and performance targets, human resources and other resource requirements
  • Directs and prepares monthly, annual and audited financial statements and reports
  • Analyzes and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly and annual financial statements
  • Assists with developing the annual budget including forecasting revenues and expenses, and analyzing variances
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operating information
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
  • Maintains, evaluates and recommends improvements to the accounting systems to improve and test internal controls
  • Creates efficiencies by mainstreaming and automating processes
  • Prepares monthly internal and external financial reporting packages
  • Coordinates the year-end audit process including the review and/or preparation of working papers, schedules, analyses and other required documentation
  • Ensures financial reporting and procedural compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations
  • Participates in the development of and supports the company’s strategic plans
  • Manages financial banking and external professional relationships
  • Acts as a resource and provides assistance and advice to staff with respect to financial issues and the interpretation of financial reports

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is required
  • Minimum 10 years of financial management experience
  • Experienced in full-cycle accounting, consolidation accounting and general practices; audit background is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience with IT financial systems
  • Ability to effectively manage and direct personnel
  • Strong communication, time management, organizational skills and computer skills
  • Background working in a material handling industry or dealership environment would be considered an asset
  • Ability to travel to company locations as required
