Position: Long Haul Truck Driver 

Job details:

Job requirements:

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: No experience

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses: Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Driver's License (Class 1 or A)

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer

Transportation/Travel Experience: Long-haul

Communication Systems Experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment

Documentation Knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports

Tasks: 

Address customers' complaints or concerns
Professionalism in customer service
Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
Load and unload goods
Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
Perform brake adjustments, Perform emergency roadside repairs, Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
Perform preventive maintenance
Receive and relay information to central dispatch
Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract)

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver's licence

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Sitting
